I'm planning on visiting Vancouver BC this weekend and need advice.?

This is my first time visiting Vancouver and I'm only going to be there for a short while, does anyone have advice on where to stay and places to see. Also places to avoid would be great! I'm looking at a B&B the Balfour Inn on Balfour Avenue, anyone know anything about the place or the area? I'm looking for inexpensive, is this my best option or should I find a cheap hotel downtown? Thank you!!
