okay to 'unsquare' somthing, you take the square root of it. the square root of x squared is just x (because x times x is x squared) and since you took the square root of one side, you must do it to the other side. the square root of 9 is 3 so x equals =+-3. you do the same thing to the second one. because quanities get treated like single variable, to cancel out the exponent of 2, take the square root of both sides, so 2x-1=5 (the square root of 25 is 5) then just solve the problem normally. so x=3
