Does a blue polo shirt go with checkered shorts (that are blue, white, dark blue)?

I have blue shorts with a sort of checkered/squares all over design to them. The colors of the shorts are mainly blue (a lighter blue and a darker blue) with some white. Does a blue polo shirt work with this since there is blue in the shorts? Or am I thinking wrong?
