Is this too dramatic for a book?

so it's about this girl whose life is perfect. but then out of nowhere her dad leaves her mom leaving behind no money and the mom doesn't have a job. when the family is threatened to be evicted from their apartment, their mother started looking for jobs, and decides that until she gets an offer the only option is to become a prositiute. one day while "working" the client says that he will pay her $50 to do it with out protection. her mom gets pregnant and is very worried because she can barely afford her ow 6 children. one day when the kids come home from school they find the mom passed out drunk, this continues for a week until finally on the last day the older brother says this tome she's not drunk. the call the ambulance and find out she's died from a drug overdose. the kids are sent to foster care until they can track down their father. they go and live with their father for two years. the girl is getting bullied in school an is suicidal and her brother enlists in the military and dies in combat. she is very depressed because during the events of the past couple years, he acted like a father to her. it will most likely be written in diary form.
